Gleaning at Arethusa Farm
On the second day of our project, our group went to visit Arethusa Farm in the Intervale in downtown Burlington. We gleaned (that means harvesting excess crops) bunches of kale and green beans that would later be given as CSA shares to low-income families.
Behind-the-Scenes Tour of City Market
For our next community field trip, we loaded up on the CCTA bus and headed to City Market for a tour of the co-op to see where food comes in, how the food is organized, and to learn about their philosophy of balancing choices among conventional, local, and/or organic options.
